Dimensional changes in slanted diffraction gratings recorded in photopolymers

چکیده
Photopolymers are appealing materials for many optical applications. For most of them, shrinkage plays an important role in the final properties of the display, especially in holographic data storage applications. In this paper, we demonstrate that to quantify correctly the shrinkage, it is mandatory to measure the angle of propagation for both diffracted orders ± 1, so that an accurate value of the grating vector can be calculated. Experimental evidence from three different photopolymers supports this affirmation. Firstly, polyvinyl alcohol acrylamide based photopolymer, which has been studied by many research groups; secondly, one environmentally compatible photopolymer developed by our group; and thirdly, a photopolymer with dispersed liquid crystal molecules. We studied the deviation from the sinusoidal profile analyzing the higher diffracted orders. ©2016 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (050.0050) Diffraction and gratings; (160.5335) Photosensitive materials. Diffusion-based model to predict the conservation of gratings recorded in poly(vinyl alcohol)-acrylamide photopolymer.
Photopolymers are interesting materials for use in recording information in holography. We study the holographic behavior and stability of volume holograms recorded in poly(vinyl alcohol)--acrylamide photopolymers with and without a cross linker. Using a first-harmonic diffusion model, we analyze the residual monomer that remains when volume diffraction gratings are recorded in photopolymer mat...

Local and nonlocal models for the diffusion of photopolymers are applied to the dynamic formation of transmission gratings recorded in photopolymers and holographic polymer-dispersed liquid crystals (H-PDLCs). We retrieve the main parameters of H-PDLCs (refractive-index modulation and diffusion coefficient) by combining a solution of the one-dimensional diffusion equation and the rigorous coupl...

Large thickness is required in holographic recording materials to be used as holographic memories. Photopolymers have proved to be a good alternative to construct holographic memories. Nevertheless, modeling the behavior of thick layers poses some problems due to high absorption of the dye, as discussed in previous papers. In this study, the gratings stored in photopolymers based on PVA/AA are ...
